Shop Story

Long before we opened up our Richmod Road location – Joe and Beverly fell in love in the spring of 1983 and married Oct 15, 1983. Beverly was a college student and Joe was working in the family greenhouse business. Together they hatched a plan for running seasonal garden centers in Lexington KY. Sitting around the dining room table of their little one bedroom apartment in Georgetown KY, they finally settled on Sunshine Grow Shop as the name for their little venture. Joe was 21 and Beverly was 19.

Over the years, two sons were added to the Ellis clan, Jesse first, and then Joseph. They each have worked and shared in the success the shops enjoy today.  Now, after more than 35 seasons in business, more and more people are involved in operating Sunshine Grow Shops around central Kentucky.

Much thanks needs to be given to all of you, our loyal customers!  Without your continued support over the years Sunshine Grow Shops could not have enjoyed the many, many years of bringing the best flowers to market!  Thank you all sooooooooo  much for shopping with us!  We hope to see you and your friends for many more seasons to come.
